Libby Ginsberg

My printmaking has evolved from a right-brain/left-brain life of switching from law to art and back again. Art seems to have won. They both involve dealing with obstacles, and in art, this results in discovery and creation.

Weaving, drawing, and painting in all mediums led to printmaking since it provides that extra departure from total control given in the end by the pressure of the press on the plate. It allows for the accidents which inevitably occur as the work of art takes control of the artist. This is especially true in collagraphs, which are my present passion. To me, the results allow the viewer reactions of a deeper, more individual and more personal nature and engender a sense of familiarity. For me, most of these pieces are meditative especially where I have abandoned dependence on realistic images and have instead relied on the "feeling" of an event, time, and/or place.

Whereas I have had many one person and group shows, juried and invitational, mostly in California, my paintings and prints are in many private collections all over the world.

Most of these prints are also available in other colors than those shown.
