Rita McGeoch Kelly

I first trained as a Printmaker at Glasgow School of Art from 1975-1979. At that time my interest mostly lay in etching, and my subject matter was largely abstract.

Later, I became a teacher, engaging students from challenging backgrounds (and themselves physically and/or emotionally challenged) in the discoveryof the power of Art for self expression and personal growth. Then, I raised my own three children.

Returning to Printmaking after a hiatus of some years, I again find the somewhat mysterious and time-honored process of etching the be the medium that most interests me, and that suits best the subject matter I now wish to explore.

My work is illustrational in presentation, and depicts (seemingly) dreamlike images with sometimes a hint of foreboding, featuring enigmatic figuers with unknown intentions and motivations, set in ambiguous landscapes.
